New Flag Code

Veterans and active-duty U.S. service members not in uniform may now render the hand salute during the playing the national anthem, thanks to changes in federal law that took effect this month and were opposed, through resolution, by The American Legion. The legislative change was sponsored by Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., an Army veteran, and included in the Defense Authorization Act of 2009. The new provision impacts a little-known change in federal law last year that authorized veterans to render the hand salute during the raising, lowering or passing of the flag. But it did not address salutes during the national anthem. Last year’s provision also applied to members of the armed forces not in uniform.

Traditionally, members of veterans service organizations have rendered hand salutes, during the national anthem and at events involving the national flag, while wearing their organization’s respective official headgear.

“The military salute is a unique gesture of respect that marks those who have served in our nation’s armed forces,” VA Secretary James Peake said. “This provision allows the application of that honor in all events involving our nation’s flag.”

Personal Message from the Host:
My fellow Americans, I hope all of you had a very nice Thanksgiving. We all have a great deal to be thankful for. But, there is one thing that we do not and should not be thankful for is the Federal Reserve. Here are a few words from one of your Founders Thomas Jefferson. “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be.” “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation then by deflation, the banks and the corporations will grow up around them, will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.” “I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.” “I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our constitution – taking from the federal government their power of borrowing.” We have to rid ourselves of this parasite called the Federal Reserve. Once that is done then there will be no more roller coaster rides for America. Then there will be more jobs than we have people to fill them. Then America will be a wealth builidng nation rather than a debt building nation. Join me in my fight to regain control of our out of control government. We have just four years to put together our Return America to Excellence campaign that will elect individuals that will go to DC and do battle with the dark side, the international moneychangers.
